The Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi will pay an official visit to Peru on Wednesday, May 3.

As reported via its official Twitter account, the visit of a foreign minister from that Asian country will take place after nearly five years.

The government agency specified that his upcoming arrival in Peru will occur within the framework of celebrations for the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations between both countries.

The Japanese minister toured the region at the beginning of the current year. He visited Mexico, Ecuador, Brazil, Argentina, and the United States.

The purpose of his visit on that occasion was to strengthen Japan's relationship with Latin America.
