Peru: Humanitarian aid delivered to frost-affected citizens in Ayacucho

12:42 | Ayacucho (Ayacucho region), Jul. 18.

Thanks to the efforts undertaken by President Martin Vizcarra's wife Maribel Diaz, High-Andean Ayacucho region's residents received humanitarian aid to face extremely-low temperatures.

This contribution was made through the Office of Support to the Spouse of the President of Peru (OACP).

The aid batch —worth S/200,000 (about US$61,106)— consisted of 17,000 blankets and 2,000 mattresses, which were distributed last weekend by National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci) representatives, regional authorities, and OACP staff.

Beneficiaries were citizens from Hospicio, Pueblo Libre, Iglesia Huasi, and Carhuaccocco population centers.

It must be noted this humanitarian aid was donated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Similar actions will take place in Huancavelica, Arequipa, Puno, Cusco, and Apurimac regions.

As is known, the Peruvian Government has launched the 2018 Frost and Friaje (cold spell) Multisectoral Mitigation Plan.
