Peru Fin Min: GDP may have grown 3% in July 2019

14:08 | Lima, Sep. 10.

Economy and Finance Minister Carlos Oliva on Tuesday projected Peruvian economy may have risen 3% in July 2019, adding the expansion may have been higher last August.

According to the cabinet member, this outcome was due to a recovery in the primary activity, which registered —during the first half of 2019— its lowest level in the last five years.

"Primary activity reached very low levels in the first half, but it has already entered a recovery phase. For that reason, we only rose 1.7% in the first half, but we will grow beyond that in the second half," Oliva said.

Remarks were made during his presentation at "2019 Economic Forum: Recovering confidence in order to continue growing" organized by the American Chamber of Commerce of Peru (AmCham).
