Peru Fin Min: Competitiveness Plan to remove bottlenecks, boost GDP

14:43 | Lima, Sep. 3.

Peruvian Economy and Finance Minister Carlos Oliva on Tuesday affirmed the National Competitiveness Plan will help remove bottlenecks in the public sector, thus the potential growth of the country will increase.

In this sense, he indicated it is necessary for businesses to increase their productivity and for the State to provide the ideal environment, so enterprises can accomplish their development goals.

"Businesses' productivity depends a lot on what we can do as a society to boost growth. I am referring to factors such as legal security, citizen security, logistics management, infrastructure gap, among others," Oliva added.

Within this framework, the minister mentioned the purpose of accountability is for society —in general— to put pressure on the Government, so it complies with what it has offered.

"We are presenting this plan, so that you can oversee it and be sure that we will undertake efforts aimed at complying with our plans (…)," he said.

Furthermore, the official pointed out citizens must be aware that the only way to maintain a sustainable growth is by improving the competitiveness of the country, enterprises, and laws

Remarks were made during the Forum for Competitiveness "Accountability for Peru's Sustainable Growth" held in Lima.
