11:17 | Lima, Sep. 3.

Peruvian Economy and Finance Minister Carlos Oliva on Tuesday affirmed that improving competitiveness enables a country to grow at high and sustainable rates in the short, medium, and long terms.

"Since the beginning of President Martin Vizcarra's administration, we have been committed to creating a diagnosis, and especially, implementing a series of measures so it can be achieved," the official expressed.

In this sense, he recalled the Government prepublished National Competitiveness and Productivity Policy in July 2018, which was approved at the end of last year. The Competitiveness Plan was based on this policy.

"The country surely needs more measures. For that reason, every six months we will make the best efforts to continue increasing this initiative platform with the purpose of improving, little by little, the country's competitiveness," Oliva added.

Infrastructure Plan

Likewise, the minister pointed out one of the National Competitiveness and Productivity Plan's measures is related to the improvement of infrastructure

"This plan is aimed at closing our enormous infrastructure gap. We have identified a first group of 52 major projects that are extremely necessary to improve competitiveness in the country," he said.

Within this framework, the official explained the National Infrastructure Plan for Peru's Competitiveness is an articulated one, composed of a series of characteristics that will enable projects to be completed in the upcoming years.

Furthermore, Oliva stated both plans are aimed at increasing the Inca nation's potential GDP
