The Transport and Communications Ministry (MTC) has extended —for 15 days— the suspension of commercial flights between Peru and Europe, and those that are more than eight hours long.

The aim is to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission due to the potential entry into the country of people infected with the new coronavirus variant discovered in the United Kingdom

The decision was made official by Ministerial Resolution No. 001-2021-MTC/01, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano.

This resolution extends the suspension of commercial flights to and from Europe, which was originally introduced on December 21, 2020 by this sector.

The decision is part of the measures implemented by the MTC to address the health emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, in order to protect the health and lives of Peruvians.

It must be pointed out that Peruvian or foreign passengers coming from overseas shall present a negative molecular-test result and a health affidavit upon arrival.

Additionally, they must undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine either at home, the Lima-based Pan American Village, any other temporary isolation center, or in a lodging facility, following coordination with the health authority.
