Peru's Government strengthens economic confidence among rating agencies in New York

Peruvian Economy and Finance Minister Elmer Cuba held a series of high-level meetings today in New York City with leading credit rating agencies and global investment banks to strengthen financial certainty and maintain a solid sovereign credit rating.

In this regard, the government official met with senior executives from Moody's Ratings, S&P Global Ratings, and J.P. Morgan, as well as World Economic Forum representatives.

The meetings took place as part of the activities of President of the Republic Keiko Fujimori during the High-Level Week of the 81st United Nations General Assembly session.

The head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) was received by Moody's Ratings Associate Managing Director and Head of Sovereign Ratings for the Americas, Ariane Ortiz-Bollin.

They addressed the political stability that favors investment in Peru, the outlook for the national economy, the dynamism of private investment, and fiscal strength.

The meeting also presented the reform agenda aimed at strengthening public investment, combating tax evasion to increase fiscal revenues, boosting formalization, and improving the Peruvian State's capacity to foster sustainable and inclusive growth.


Furthermore, Minister Cuba met with S&P Global Ratings Managing Director Joydeep Mukherji to present the Government's economic priorities and measures aimed at consolidating confidence in Peru.

This coordination meeting highlighted the Government's increased efforts to promote private investment and reforms aimed at improving the quality of public investment, strengthening tax collection, and developing the capital market.


Moreover, a working session was held with the team led by J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. Executive Director Nina Baumberger.

The Peruvian minister presented the Government's progress in economic management, highlighting the responsible management of public finances, fiscal deficit reduction, and medium-term outlook.

Finally, a bilateral meeting was held with World Economic Forum Head of Latin America Marisol Argueta to discuss the 2027 Annual Meeting in Davos and opportunities for cooperation and investment in Peru.

Within this framework, the country's strong macroeconomic fundamentals, driven by private investment, were highlighted as a basis for continuing to position Peru as a reliable and attractive investment destination.

Through this international agenda, the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) reaffirmed its commitment to consolidating Peru's credibility in international capital markets, ensuring competitive financing conditions for all Peruvians' development and well-being.
