Peruvian Agriculture and Irrigation Ministry (Minagri) takes part in the international culinary fair Mistura with the purpose of promoting the South American nation's biodiversity.

For the tenth consecutive year, Minagri participates in Mistura supporting small and medium-scale producers in a special area named "Gran Mercado" (Great Market).

This section offers —as major attraction— exotic fruits from Peru's highlands and rainforest meaning: puru puru, quito quito, macambo, ambrancay, aguaje, camu camu berries, and tumbo.

It must be noted these nutrient-rich fruits rely on a very high export-potential.

This year, Minagri sponsors 30 stands, at which products like maca, quinoa, blueberries, and cacao also stand out.

According to Deputy Agriculture and Irrigation Minister Jaime Salomon, Peru's culinary boom —which places the Inca nation as top tourist destination— is mainly explained by the vast biodiversity of its crops and the valuable efforts of its farmers.

"We must appreciate our farmers' efforts and our biodiversity. Thanks to agriculture, we are experiencing a gastronomic boom, but we still must continue promoting our products," he affirmed.

Likewise, Salomon pointed out this fair is important as it allows producers to showcase their best products, as well as people to try and enjoy them.

Mistura's Gran Mercado opened its doors on Friday and runs until November 5 at Club Revolver in Rimac district.
