Peru's Congress has granted the Executive Branch special powers to legislate —for a period of 60 days— on economic, anti-corruption and other matters.
The initiative was exempted from the second round voting.
Afterwards, Congress' Chairman Luis Galarreta concluded the last plenary session of the 2017-18 legislative period.
The Executive attempts to legislate on economic management and competitiveness, integrity and
fight against corruption, protection of persons in violent and vulnerable situations, as well as modernization of public administration.
This decision is based on article 104 of the Peruvian Constitution and article 90 of the Congress Regulations.
