09:03 | Pucallpa (Ucayali region), May. 29.
A new
Social Health Insurance System (EsSalud) medical delegation, made up of 20 doctors and 5 nurses, arrived in Ucayali region to join the struggle against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the Peruvian jungle, one of the most affected areas during the pandemic.
On Thursday morning, EsSalud staff, Armed Forces members and Air Group No. 8 workers bid farewell to the health professionals with applause and expressions of heartfelt gratitude.
Before boarding the plane to Pucallpa, the brave health workers shared what this experience means to them.
They affirmed they have left home filled with lots of courage, hope and energy, "because solidarity is the most effective medicine to save lives."
Molinelli noted that the medical missions sent to the interior of the country —especially to Ucayali and
Loreto regions— provide great lessons as a nation.
"They are made up of dedicated, optimistic Peruvians who always share their generosity and solidarity to help and go where they are most needed," she stated.
