The plenary session of the
National Election Board (JNE) on Wednesday issued credentials to the 130 legislators elected during
the 2021 general elections, after proclaiming the voting records of the parliamentary election.
The event was held at Los Incas Hall of the
Ministry of Culture in Lima's San Borja district and was presided over by JNE Chairman Jorge Salas and the members of the electoral body's plenary session.
The ceremony took place in two shifts, due to the health protocols in place because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the first half, the corresponding credentials were granted to legislators from the following political organizations: Alianza para el Progreso, Avanza Pais, Fuerza Popular, Partido Democratico Somos Peru, and Renovacion Popular.
Afterwards, the second half featured lawmakers from Accion Popular, Juntos por el Peru, Partido Morado, Partido Politico Peru Libre, and Podemos Peru.
The ceremony included the signing of the general proclamation notice, which contained the voting records of this election, which was carried out under a multiple electoral district system.
This general proclamation came after the 60 Special Electoral Boards (JEE) —authorized to take part in the electoral process— issued their respective decentralized proclamation notices regarding the votes obtained within the scope of their territorial jurisdiction, following the resolution of voting records that were contested at tally centers of the Decentralized Electoral Process Offices.
The credentials accredit legislators as such. Thus, they will be able to be sworn in before the Congress of the Republic for the 2021-2026 term.
