Peruvian lawyer Eduardo Garcia Birimisa on Thursday evening tendered his irrevocable resignation from the post of State Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion.
Similarly, he expressed his hope that she can make the best decisions for Peru’s future in the context of social protests, which have left 49 people deceased so far.
"A government statement is required, which expresses the pain we feel for the loss of the lives of our brothers, for the losses that these families have suffered," he wrote in his resignation letter.
"It is required that apologies are conveyed to the population, and that it is acknowledged that mistakes have been committed, which must be corrected so that this does not repeat itself," the letter read.
"I believe that all Peruvians need to join a reflection process. We need to see the other one as a self and not as an enemy. (Let us) Understand that the one who thinks differently is not necessarily wrong. We need to be able to discuss with a serious dialogue, through which we validate the other one's stance and make an effort to understand their reasons; only then can we respect and identify with one another," he asserted.
