Peru's national production grew 3.77% in Jan-Aug this year and 3.35% in the last 12-month period (Sep 2017-Aug 2018), National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed Monday.
According to INEI's National Production Technical Report,
the country's GDP posted a 2.25% expansion last August, thus marking 109 months of sustained growth.
Peru's economic activity was driven by
the positive growth in external demand —related to higher exports (+0.71%)— for
non-traditional products (+15.68%).
This rise was also influenced by domestic demand recovery, as reflected in higher
retail sales (3.55%), and consumer loans (9.93%).
Farming (+7.51%), telecommunications (+5.72%), accommodation and restaurant (+5.07%), services supplied to companies (+3.47%), transport, storage and communications (+3.35%), trade (+2.52%), and manufacture (+1.53%) sectors were responsible for August's growth.
