Peru: Defense minister welcomes delegations participating in 17th CMDA

At the welcome ceremony for delegations participating in the 17th Conference of Defense Ministers of the Americas (CMDA), Peru's Defense Minister Amadeo Flores underscored the importance of the gathering.

The government official said it serves as a forum for dialogue, cooperation, and confidence-building among the countries of this continent.

During his remarks, the defense minister expressed his satisfaction at welcoming the authorities and representatives of the participating nations.

Likewise, the Executive Branch representative stressed that this forum reaffirms the shared commitment to peace, regional security, and respect for international law.

He also pointed out that the current challenges in the field of defense require a coordinated response, based on cooperation, the exchange of experiences, and the strengthening of hemispheric integration mechanisms, always for the benefit of citizens of the Americas.

"We reaffirm Peru's willingness to promote an open and constructive dialogue that helps consolidate defense policies aimed at addressing common threats, strengthening regional stability, and fostering the development of joint capabilities," Minister Flores stressed.

The welcome ceremony took place Tuesday evening at the Qorikancha Temple in Cusco. It featured colorful artistic performances showcasing Peru's rich cultural heritage.

The event brought together defense ministers, deputy ministers, heads of delegation, and senior military authorities from the participating countries.

They officially kicked off the activities leading up to the 17th Conference of Defense Ministers of the Americas, reaffirming the spirit of cooperation, mutual respect, and friendship that characterizes this important hemispheric mechanism.
