Defense Minister Walter Martos on Tuesday affirmed that —as long as there is a risk of covid-19 infection in Peru— the most advisable option is not to allow nighttime activities in order to avoid crowds.
The minister noted that the disease will not end in June, because there are millions of Peruvians who are not infected and are not immune; so if there are people who may be infected, the best thing is to wait for a vaccine, since danger persists.
During an operation against informal trade in Lima's La Victoria district, Martos argued that this is why the Government imposed
mandatory social immobilization (curfew) at night, in order to protect vulnerable people, those who may end up in intensive care units.
"That is why the Government must take the most appropriate measures, so as to prevent them from becoming infected, and one of these measures is to be home earlier," the Cabinet member explained.
