Peru: Cusco, best city to visit in Central and South America

Foreign tourists from diverse parts of the world have chosen Peru's Cusco as the best city in Central and South America, Travel and Leisure magazine revealed within the framework of its World Best Awards 2019.

According to the Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru), the survey's voters considered Cusco a honeymoon destination, due to its healthy and delicious gastronomy, as well as its history.

It must be noted the Andean metropolis is the gateway for those who want to travel to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu.

For its part, the nation's capital city of Lima grabbed the 9th position in the ranking.

On the other hand, Inkaterra hotels ranked 3rd among the Top 25 Hotel Brands in the World.

Meanwhile, Inkaterra Hacienda Urubamba (9th), Tambo del Inka (6th), and Sol y Luna (3rd) were recognized in the Top 10 Resort Hotels in South America.

Last year, Cusco was named top destination in Central and South America by Travel+Leisure magazine as well.
