Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Javier Gonzalez-Olaechea on Monday morning announced that various countries in the region are coordinating actions to ensure that the will of Venezuelan citizens expressed at the polls last Sunday is respected.

"Several countries in the region are coordinating joint actions to ensure unequivocal respect for the will of the Venezuelan people expressed yesterday. There is no turning back, no matter how long it takes," he expressed on the X platform.

The Cabinet member indicated that the Peruvian Ambassador to Venezuela was called back for consultations by the Foreign Affairs Ministry and is leaving Caracas today given the very serious official announcements by Venezuela's electoral authorities.

In remarks to RPP Noticias on Monday morning, the government official said the actions that followed the elections are typical of those who do not want to give up power and do not want to face justice.

"In the event that Maduro's departure occurs, he and all those who accompany him in these atrocities must be brought to trial, afforded due process, and the right to a defense," Gonzalez-Olaechea stated.

"I condemn in the strongest terms the accumulation of irregularities with intent to defraud by the Government Venezuela. Peru will not accept the violation of the popular will of the Venezuelan people," he stated on the X platform.

Last night, Venezuela's National Electoral Council (CNE) announced that Nicolas Maduro won the presidential elections (51.20%), with 80% of the votes counted, for a third consecutive term in office.

On the other hand, the opposition declared Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia the winner and denounced irregularities in the vote count.

Several countries have called for transparency and independent auditing of votes to clear up any doubts about the results.
