Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Javier Gonzalez-Olaechea condemned the irregularities that have been unfolding in Venezuela following the release of the electoral results in said country.

"I condemn in the strongest terms the accumulation of irregularities with intent to defraud by the Government Venezuela. Peru will not accept the violation of the popular will of the Venezuelan people," he stated on the X platform on Sunday night.

"Given the very serious official announcements by Venezuela's electoral authorities, it has been decided to immediately call the accredited Peruvian ambassador from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (back) for consultations," he reported via another post.

Venezuela's National Electoral Council (CNE) on Sunday night announced that Nicolas Maduro won the presidential elections (51.20%), with 80% of the votes counted.

Several countries and presidents in the Americas expressed their concern on the matter.

Likewise, they have called for transparency and respect for the popular will in the presidential elections held in Venezuela yesterday.
