confirmed on Thursday that the Council of Ministers will meet this Sunday.
The agenda includes the Government's request to Congress for delegated legislative powers on citizen security, actions to address El Niño phenomenon, among other issues.
"Yes, we have been called to attend a Council of Ministers meeting on Sunday," Rey said after participating in the Thanksgiving for Peru Ceremony.
The government official expressed confidence that Congress will support the Executive Branch's request for delegated legislative powers.
"I spent 26 years in Congress, so I know how it can act, and I am confident it will respond to the Government's requests whenever they are reasonably aimed at helping the country (...) I believe we will secure a majority to support the reasonable requests we submit from the Executive Branch," Rey indicated.
Regarding his tenure at the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the minister said it would be characterized by transparency and constant communication with the press.
The government official announced that nothing would be kept confidential, except in cases where the law requires it for security reasons.
The Cabinet member also noted he would establish a list of priorities for infrastructure projects and other measures to be adopted by his ministry.
Minister Rey said he would go to his office later today to receive a briefing on the state of the ministry as he takes over.
