Peru coach Gareca: The biggest challenge is to retain the spot we earned

Ricardo Gareca gave thanks for the contract renewal, which allows him to remain as Peru's national soccer team coach.

Within this framework, the Argentinean was grateful for the trust placed in his staff to continue leading the Peruvian squad for three years.

The contract will be extended for one more year in case the team qualifies for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar.  

According to Gareca, Peru has an incredible potential. 

He went on to add the biggest challenge for the squad is to retain the spot it earned with its participation at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Remarks were made during a press conference, which was also attended by Nestor Bonillo and Sergio Santin, members of his technical staff. 

As is known, the 60-year-old former soccer player led the Inca team to a World Cup tournament after 36 years.
