BBC: Peru deserved much more at World Cup

15:39 | London (UK), Jul. 16.

BBC Mundo —the Spanish-language website of the BBC World Service— considered Peru's national soccer team displayed a performance that deserved much more at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia.

In this sense, BBC pointed out the red-white squad —coached by Argentinean Ricardo Gareca— was always conditioned by the penalty missed by Christian Cueva minutes before the end of the first half of the debut match against Denmark.

During their participation in the mega event, the Incas were defeated by Denmark (1-0) and France (1-0). Yet, the national team managed to beat Australia (2-0) in its last match.

The original story was written by BBC journalist Jose Pinochet in an article compiling the best and the worst of Russia 2018.

Fans

On the other hand, Pinochet highlighted the unbridled passion of Latin American supporters.

"Fans from Latin American countries conquered the world with the passion with which they live the World Cup, the biggest celebration of the most popular sport in the region," he wrote.
