10:43 | Cotabambas (Apurimac region), Apr. 9.
Challhuahuacho district communities in Apurimac region agreed to remove the road blockade in the Manantiales sector at the entry to Las Bambas mine, Fuerabamba community leader Gregorio Rojas has informed.
Unblocking the road was one of the commitments adopted as a previous step to the
dialogue taking place Thursday with the government's representatives and the communities based in the influence zone of Las Bambas mine —which belongs to MMG company.
Likewise, Rojas indicated there will be an audience with the 600 owners of the Yavi Yavi estate in order to determine, if they will remove the blockade in the Apurimac-Cusco-Arequipa roadway corridor, which has remained obstructed since February 4.
Agreement
Within this framework, the protesters will remove the road blockade that passes through the Yavi Yavi estate.
In addition, Las Bambas mining company and Fuerabamba community agreed on an economic accord that benefits both of them.
The agreement was signed by Prime Minister Salvador del Solar, Fuerabamba community leader Gregorio Rojas, Las Bambas mining company General Manager Edgardo Orderique, and Peruvian Episcopal Conference (CEP) President Monsignor Miguel Cabrejos.
