The Peruvian Episcopal Conference (CEP) on Friday expressed its gratitude for the public's interest in and inquiries about Pope Leo XIV's upcoming visit to Peru.

Likewise, the CEP announced that it will soon unveil the official itinerary, including the dates and locations of the apostolic trip, scheduled for the first half of November.

Via social media, the Conference thanked the faithful for their interest and confirmed that the official program of the apostolic journey will be presented at an upcoming press conference.

The announcement will include the cities the Pope will visit and the activities he is scheduled to undertake.

Confirmation of the trip came after President Jose Maria Balcazar's audience with Pope Leo XIV in Vatican City on June 18, during which he formally extended an invitation for the Supreme Pontiff to visit Peru.

According to the Presidential Office, His Holiness confirmed his intention to visit the South American country in November.

Furthermore, he expressed enthusiasm about returning to Peru, where he carried out much of his pastoral ministry and served as a bishop.

Following the meeting, President Balcazar said the visit would last between 8 and 10 days and would include the cities of Lima, Chiclayo, Piura, Cusco, and Pucallpa.

The top official also indicated that the cities of Puno and Iquitos are still being considered as possible destinations on the Supreme Pontiff's official itinerary.

Leo XIV's arrival will mark his first visit to Peru as Pope and his return to a country with which he maintains close pastoral and personal ties, particularly the city of Chiclayo, where he carried out a significant part of his religious mission.
