00:00 | Lima, Jul. 21.

Congress Chairman Manuel Merino reported that the presentation of the new Cabinet —led by Prime Minister Pedro Cateriano— before Congress will take place on August 3.

As is known, Cateriano was sworn in as the new Prime Minister of Peru last Wednesday to replace Vicente Zeballos in the post.

The following day, the Cabinet chief asked Congress Chairman Manuel Merino to convene a plenary session before July 28 to present and debate the Government's general policy, as well as request a vote of confidence.

In accordance with Article 130 of the Constitution, the President of the Council of Ministers must attend Congress —joined by his Cabinet— to present the Government's general policy and the principal measures pursued by the Executive Branch.

After his speech, Cateriano shall request the confidence vote of legislators.
