The Cabinet led by Prime Minister Vicente Zeballos will request the confidence vote of Congress after the quarantine is over, between May 11 and 15, Congress Chairman Manuel Merino de Lama said on Thursday.
According to Merino, he and the President of the Council of Ministers discussed the possibility of holding a plenary session, which might be in person, to hear the presentation of the Government's general policy statement.
"We have agreed that the vote of confidence will be held after May 10, between May 11 and 15," Merino stated.
According to the
Parliament head, the possibility of a plenary session in person is being evaluated, so the corresponding measures are being assessed to maintain social distancing.
He did not rule out the use of an alternative facility outside the Chamber to hold the session.
In accordance with Article 130 of the Constitution, the President of the Council of Ministers must attend Congress to present the Government's general policy statement and request a vote of confidence within the first 30 days in office.
