The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri) reported that Peruvian agro-exports reached US$3.055 billion during the first quarter of this year (January-March), marking a 6.9% increase compared with the same period in 2025 and reinforcing the position of Peruvian products in international markets.

Midagri noted that non-traditional products accounted for 94.6% of total exports through March, generating US$2.889 billion and posting growth of 5.4%.

Traditional agricultural shipments represented the remaining 6.4%, totaling US$166 million and recording a significant 43% increase, driven by stronger demand for unroasted coffee, which generated US$147 million.

According to Midagri, fresh grapes led non-traditional exports with US$745 million, representing 25.8% of the total, followed by fresh blueberries with US$321 million (11.1%), fresh mangoes with US$256 million, and avocados with US$237 million.

Products that recorded the strongest percentage increases compared with the first quarter of 2025 included cocoa preparations (345.9%), ethyl alcohol (99.6%), vegetable seeds (99.3%), passion fruit juice (52.2%), fresh blueberries (38.9%), and avocados (36.6%).

The top 10 destination markets were the United States, the Netherlands, Spain, Mexico, Chile, Ecuador, the United Kingdom, Canada, Colombia, and China, which together accounted for 80.7% of total purchases.

Midagri detailed that agro-exports totaled US$824 million in March alone, up 6.2% from the US$776 million reported in the same month of 2025.

The government agency noted that this quarterly performance enabled the agricultural trade balance to close with a surplus of US$1.368 billion, exceeding the figure recorded a year earlier by 19.3%.

Last year, agricultural exports surpassed US$15 billion in sales of fruits and vegetables to more than 150 destination markets worldwide, with Peru ranking among the world's leading producers of blueberries, grapes, avocados, and mangoes, among other products.
