Peru: Agro-exports exceed US$3.538 billion in Jan-Jul 2019

Peru's traditional and non-traditional agro-exports totaled more than US$3.538 billion between January and July 2019, thus increasing 7.72% compared to the same period last year, privately-run Association of Peruvian Exporters (Adex) has reported.

Non-traditional 

Within this framework, non-traditional agro-exports totaled US$3.278 billion in the first seven months of this year, a 7.69% rise compared to the same period in 2018. 

Avocados (US$620 million) and grapes were the main exported products and represented 36.3% of total shipments from this segment. 

Mangoes, asparagus, animal feed, blueberries, and bananas, among others, also stood out in this sense.

The main destinations were the United States, the Netherlands, Spain, Ecuador, the United Kingdom, Chile, China, Colombia, and Canada.

Traditional

On the other hand, traditional agricultural exports reached US$259 million, an 8% expansion. 

Coffee represented 69% of total exports, as they amounted to US$178 million (-7.2%).

Sugar cane and non-carded/non-combed wool stood out as well. 

The United States (US$76 million) and Germany (US$43 million) were the main destinations, followed by Colombia, Belgium, Uruguay, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
