Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Claudia Cornejo on Friday reported that 47,755 health workers have so far —during the first vaccination week— received the initial dose of the Sinopharm vaccine against COVID-19 in Peru.

Likewise, the government official said that —in order to achieve this goal— 11 flight itineraries were set to cover 22 Peruvian regions.

"Additionally, three helicopter routes and six land routes were established, through which 34 cities in all regions were reached," she indicated.

"In San Martín and Ayacucho regions, more than 50% of the health personnel have been vaccinated. It is worth mentioning that this vaccination is carried out by 1,000 vaccinators (…)," she expressed.

"With the 700,000 Sinopharm vaccine doses that will arrive (in Lima) tomorrow, the remaining health sector workers will be vaccinated starting Monday February 15, and this includes (staff from) the Ministry of Health (Minsa), the Social Health Insurance System (Essalud), and the private sector," she commented.
