Peru: 12,600 ha of coca eradicated in Feb-Jun 2018

Peruvian Interior Ministry's Special Project for Control and Reduction of Illegal Crops in Alto Huallaga (CORAH) eradicated 12,664 hectares of coca between February and June 2018.

In this sense, anti-drug agents eradicated 6,513.85 ha in Oxapampa (Pasco), 4,776.52 ha in Tocache (San Martin), 838.09 in Padre Abad (Ucayali), and 535.63 ha in Puerto Inca (Huanuco).

Furthermore, CORAH demolished 35 drug laboratories in Oxapampa (30), Padre Abad (3), Tocache (1), and Puerto Inca (1). 

The institution also reported the destruction of 5,847 square meters of seedlings that were meant to expand coca crops.

It must be noted these operations were conducted within the framework of the 2018 Annual Plan for Reduction of Illegal Coca Growing Area —under the National Strategy to Fight Drugs 2017-2021.

Such raids are supported by National Anti-Drug Agency (Dirandro) and Police Aviation Department.
