Peru: Over 10,000 ha of coca eradicated in Feb-May 2018

Peruvian Interior Ministry's Special Project for Control and Reduction of Illegal Crops in Alto Huallaga (CORAH) has eradicated a total of 10,224.66 ha of coca crops in Ucayali, San Martin, and Pasco regions.

Anti-drug operations were conducted from February 1 to May 16 within the framework of the 2018 Annual Plan for Reduction of Illegal Coca Growing Area —under the National Strategy to Fight Drugs 2017-2021.

In this regard, CORAH agents eradicated 3,867.36 ha in Santa Lucia (San Martin), 5,651.64 ha in Ciudad Constitucion (Pasco), and 705.66 ha in Aguaytia (Ucayali).

Furthermore, 4,537 square meters of seedlings were destroyed, thus avoiding the cultivation of illegal coca in Aguaytia (374 m2), Santa Lucia (2,377 m2), and Ciudad Constitucion (1,786 m2).

On the other hand, Peru's National Police (PNP) —which endorses CORAH efforts— demolished 30 cocaine paste laboratories in Aguaytia (3), Nuevo Progreso (1), and Ciudad Constitucion (26).

These operations were supported by National Anti-Drug Agency (Dirandro) and Police Aviation Department.
