Peruvian, Chilean, Colombian, and Mexican Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Trade outlined the agreements that their Heads of State will announce during the current
14th Summit of the Pacific Alliance.
In this sense, the Inca country's Ministers Nestor Popolizio (Foreign Affairs) and Edgar Vasquez (Foreign Trade) presided over the gathering in Lima.
During the meeting, the officials assessed the progress made by the technical groups, the Deputy Ministers of Trade and Foreign Affairs, as well as other agenda items.
On the occasion, they were joined by Colombia's Foreign Affairs Minister Carlos Holmes, and Trade, Industry and Tourism Minister Jose Manuel Restrepo; Mexico's Foreign Affairs Secretary Marcelo Ebrard, and Economy Secretary Graciela Marquez; as well as Chile's Foreign Affairs Minister Teodoro Ribera, and Deputy Trade Minister Rodrigo Yañez.
On the other hand, Popolizio highlighted that the ministers' audience took place at the same time as the Pacific Alliance Business Summit.
About
The
Pacific Alliance —created in 2011— is an integration initiative focused on
reducing trade barriers, as well as fostering the free circulation of goods, services, capitals, and people across its territories.
The bloc relies on
observer countries and represents the eighth-largest economy in the world.
On an annual basis, the
Pacific Alliance rotates the pro-tempore presidency among its members.
It must be noted Peru handed over the presidency to Chile in 2016, and then Colombia was chosen to hold it in 2017.
