13:00 | Tacna (Tacna region), Apr. 17.
In response to the provision by Chile's government to expel foreigners who are in an irregular situation, Peru's Ministry of Interior ordered the deployment of 135 Peruvian police agents to reinforce border surveillance and prevent migrants from entering national territory through unauthorized crossings.
Tacna Police Region Chief, General Helbert Luna, reported that 100 of the deployed personnel come from Cusco, Ica, Arequipa, and Puno regions.
Luna, who oversees the surveillance operations, said that services are being provided at 10 border surveillance posts to prevent the entry of individuals in an irregular situation.

Police presence is supported by drones used for patrol operations in specific sectors between Landmarks 14 and 18, expanding monitoring capabilities.
The surveillance plan, however, extends up to Landmark 81.
He added that a motorized patrol system has been implemented, including motorcycles and quad bikes assigned to each control post.
At night, surveillance continues with the support of 10 strategically placed lighting towers to deter movement through unauthorized areas.
Chile expels migrants
Chilean President, Jose Antonio Kast, ordered the mass expulsion of migrants in an irregular situation starting April 16, through both air and ground operations.
This measure halts the mass regularization of more than 300,000 people. It focuses on the deportation of undocumented foreigners and those with criminal records, linking irregular status to insecurity in the country.
On Thursday, Chile expelled 40 foreign citizens by air, originating from Bolivia, Ecuador, and Colombia.
The aircraft carrying out the operation also transported a large contingent from the Chilean Investigative Police (PDI).
Authorities indicated that these actions will continue.
Chile is continuing its "Border Shield" plan, which has reached 27% progress in the construction of trenches along the Chile–Peru border. In its first month, more than 3,000 linear meters have already been completed.
