OAS High-Level Group to hold meetings in Peru on Nov 21-22

15:00 | Lima, Nov. 18.

The High-Level Group of the Organization of American States (OAS) will hold working meetings with representatives of various institutions and key players on national affairs in Lima on November 21-22, in order to become widely informed about the situation in Peru.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry reported that, at the request of the OAS, it had forwarded the request for meetings with the heads of the three government branches.

In this sense, it indicated that the handling of this agenda is an exclusive competence of said organization.

The government agency specified that, as reported by the regional body, the High-Level Group is in the process of crafting its agenda, with the purpose of allowing the largest number of interlocutors.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry added that it will report on the itinerary as provided by the aforementioned organization.

The agency released this information via its official Twitter account last Thursday, based on reports by the Organization of American States (OAS).

The purpose of the upcoming visit is to listen to as many voices as possible and gather pertinent information to prepare a report that will be later presented before the Permanent Council at the OAS headquarters in Washington, D.C.

The formation of this High-Level Group derives from a request by the Peruvian Government for the OAS Permanent Commission to meet in an extraordinary manner —in accordance with the provisions of the Inter-American Democratic Charter.
