Puerto Rican superstar Luis Fonsi on Monday was officially introduced as the international artist performing at
Lima 2019 Pan American Games opening ceremony.
The Despacito singer arrived in the Peruvian capital making a stop on his world tour and will take advantage of his presence in the Inca country, in the following days, to get to know a musical business venture —involving low-income children— that Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Florez is getting off the ground.
Fonsi noted the joy and great honor of being the international guest of the
Lima 2019 Pan American Games opening ceremony and admitted being an outstanding sportsman.
"I dedicated myself to sports when I was young, but my interest in music took over. I respect the great effort put by athletes at this sporting competition," he said at a press conference.
The renowned singer and songwriter received a
Peruvian soccer jersey and a souvenir of Milco —the Lima 2019 official mascot— with whom he posed for pictures.
The Lima 2019 opening ceremony will be held on July 26 at the National Stadium. Fonsi will share the stage with world-famous Peruvian tenor
Juan Diego Florez, Shantall Young, Sandra Muente, and Pelo D' Ambrosio.
