A Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) training squadron —composed of the ships Kashima and Inazuma with 580 members— will visit Peru on July 5-9, the Japanese Embassy in Lima has informed.

The squadron will dock at Callao Port, one of its international destinations, within the framework of its 2019 Overseas Training Cruise.

On June 5, representatives of the Peruvian-Japanese community will welcome the officers commanded by Rear Admiral Daisuke Kajimoto.

Furthermore, Japanese Ambassador to Peru Sadayuki Tsuchiya will deliver a speech on the occasion.

On June 8, the squadron's music band will give a concert at Lima-based Peruvian-Japanese Theater.

At the same time, a joint practice and sporting exchange will take place at the dojo of the Peruvian-Japanese Cultural Center, also in Lima.

The future officers will contribute to the strengthening of friendship ties with Peru and the other countries they will visit.

The training squadron's visit to Peru takes place within the framework of the 120th anniversary of Japanese immigration to the Inca country.
