The
Huascaran National Park —located in the highlands of Ancash region— has become the place to be for Peruvian and foreign tourists who seek nature and adventure tourism experiences.
The good conservation status of this protected natural area —managed by the National Service of Natural Protected Areas (Sernanp)— the visitor-targeted services, and the excellent climate have turned
Huascaran National Park into a place that is trending in this period of the year.
According to Sernanp, 22,867 tourists visited the park during the long weekend of Independence Day, up 182% compared to last year (8,097).
The increase in the number of visits produced an estimated economic impact of S/7.3 million (about US$2.1 million) on the local population, as the outcome of the expenditure incurred by visitors.
"Huascaran is a clear proof of the enormous economic and social benefits of a protected natural area that is properly managed in coordination with competent actors," it said.

The place houses a wide range of natural attractions including snow-capped mountains, plant and animal species, as well as picturesque villages.
Located 443 km northeast of Lima city, the park covers an area of 340,000 ha. and features 660 tropical glaciers and 300 glacial lakes.
The natural protected space comprises territories in Huaylas, Yungay, Carhuaz, Huaraz, Recuay, Bolognesi, Huari, Asuncion, Mariscal Luzuriaga and Pomabamba provinces.
