The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday reported that 10 Peruvian citizens, who remained in Israel, were repatriated from said country thanks to a humanitarian flight operated by the Chilean Air Force.

This information was disseminated by the government agency via X (formerly known as Twitter).

"Our network of embassies and consulates remains attentive to any need that the Peruvian community abroad may have. Last Friday, 10 Peruvian nationals were repatriated from Tel Aviv, via Santiago, Chile, on a humanitarian flight operated by the Chilean Air Force," the publication reads.

Upon their arrival in Santiago, the Consulate General provided them with all the facilities and has been coordinating actions for their return to Peru.

"We thank our brother country of Chile for the support provided in favor of our compatriots," reads the post shared by the Government agency.

Peruvian found dead

Last Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that Peruvian citizen Margit Shnaider and her husband were found dead in the zone of conflagration between Israel and Hamas terrorist group.

Shnaider and her spouse, an Argentine citizen, disappeared on October 7, and their location was unknown until Saturday.

The couple had resided in Israel for 15 years.

On October 7, the Hamas attack against Israel began, which triggered the escalation of a conflict that has caused thousands of deaths so far this month.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry indicated that Peru's Embassy in Israel and diplomatic missions in the region continue working tirelessly to assist the Peruvian community that could be affected.
