The Peruvian Government —through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs— on Saturday strongly condemned the terrorist attacks perpetrated by the Hamas group against the State of Israel in recent hours.

Within this framework, Peru stands in solidarity with the Israeli people, the victims, and their families.

Similarly, the South American country categorically reaffirmed rejection of terrorism in all its forms.

Furthermore, Peru urgently called on all parties involved to "immediately cease violence and to refrain from any resource that would lead to a higher level of confrontation."

"Once again, it reaffirms its commitment to the peace process between Israel and Palestine, in accordance with International Law and the resolutions issued by the United Nations (UN)," the ministry stated.

"The Government of Peru remains alert to the development of events in the zone and has instructed its Embassy in Israel to provide the necessary assistance to any request for assistance from our compatriots who may have been affected," the government agency concluded.

A surprise attack by land, sea, and air from Gaza towards Israel by the Islamist group Hamas has caused more than 200 deaths and injured over 1,000 people.
