During the 129th session of the National Agreement Forum held at the Lima-based Government Palace on Monday, its members assumed a Commitment to Dialogue under the Peru Pact with a view to the Bicentennial.

The document contains the following statements:

-National Agreement members reaffirm their commitment to: safeguarding life, containing the pandemic, caring for the vulnerable population, fighting hunger and boosting the economic recovery supported by decent employment.

-Likewise, they expressed their willingness to promote a national dialogue on the five points of the Peru Pact —an initiative convened by President Martin Vizcarra in his Address to the Nation on July 28.

-These points include the construction of a unified health system, guaranteeing educational quality, promoting sustainable economic growth, continuing the reform of the political and justice administration systems, as well as fighting poverty and extreme poverty.

-The consensual approaches will be in accordance with State policies, the vision of Peru by 2050, and other documents signed by National Agreement Forum members.

-The Peru Pact —which will be drawn up within 45 days and must be implemented in the following months— will include follow-up mechanisms and be submitted for the consideration of the next elected authorities.

-The commitment to dialogue —assumed in favor of democratic governance— does not imply ceasing to make use of the legitimate right to debate issues related to the national agenda.

The document was signed by President Martin Vizcarra, Prime Minister Walter Martos, and leaders of the National Assembly of Regional Governments, the Association of Municipalities of Peru, political parties, and civil society organizations.
