The Second Collegiate Criminal Court on Monday started the oral trial against former President Alejandro Toledo (2001-2006) and others over the alleged crimes of collusion and money laundering, within the framework of Caso Interoceanica (Interoceanic Highway Case).

Toledo participates in the hearing on the Google Meet platform from Lima's Barbadillo Prison, where he is serving pre-trial detention.

The other defendants are: Avraham Dan On, Sergio Rafael Bravo Orellana, Alberto Javier Pasco Font Quevedo, Gonzalo Ferraro Rey, Jose Fernando Castillo Dibos, and Fernando Martin Gonzalo Camet Piccone.

Representing the Public Ministry, Prosecutor Jose Domingo Perez —a Lava Jato Case Special Prosecution Group member— participates (in person) in the hearing at the courtroom.

The superior prosecutor asked the collegiate that press members be allowed to attend the hearings. Two days ago, the Judiciary issued a statement saying that this would not be possible citing room capacity.

Likewise, Perez requested that accused citizens Avraham Dan On and Fernando Camet Piccone be declared in contempt of court.

In turn, Alejandro Toledo's lawyer, Roberto Su, indicated that the former president requested to participate in the hearing in person and not via technological means.
