Former Odebrecht Executive Igor Braga Vasconcelos on Wednesday confirmed the delivery of US$4 million in bribes for the Costa Verde–Callao Stretch Project developed during former Callao Region Governor Felix Moreno's term in office (2011-2018).
According to information provided by the Peruvian press from Brazil, Braga Vasconcelos corroborated the money delivery, which was distributed between Felix Moreno (US$2.6 million) and businessman Gil Shavit (US$1.4 million).
From the US$2.6 million handed over to the former authority, US$2 million was deposited into Luis Favre's accounts so he would lead the electoral campaign aimed at the reelection of Moreno, who allegedly kept the remaining US$600,000.
Moreno is a fugitive from justice since last January when he was sentenced to five years in prison for the Oquendo Estate case.
It should be noted Igor Braga Vasconcelos was the Odebrecht representative in Peru for the Costa Verde–Callao Stretch and was allegedly involved in bribe payments for the awarding of this project.
Collaboration agreement
As is known, the Brazilian construction giant admitted to having paid millions in bribes to government officials in Peru, in order to secure public-works contracts.
As a result,
Odebrecht benefited from over US$143 million between 2005 and 2014 in Peru, according to the U.S. Justice Department.
