The
Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Monday that it has arranged the return to Peru of two Peruvian citizens residing in La Guaira, Venezuela, one of the states hardest hit by the recent high-magnitude earthquakes in said country.
In a press release, the government agency reported these and other actions it has been taking in response to the disaster in the neighboring country.
In this regard, the ministry said the Interests Section in charge of Consular Affairs in Caracas remains in constant contact with Peruvian nationals in the affected areas, receiving and responding to requests for assistance from the most vulnerable communities.
"The return to Peru of two vulnerable Peruvian citizens residing in La Guaira, who requested to be evacuated, has been arranged," the document stated.
"Assistance is also being provided by supplying shelter, food, and other essential items to those Peruvian nationals who need them as a result of this severe natural disaster," it added.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it has received reports from relatives of four missing Peruvian citizens. Thus, it maintains close coordination with Venezuelan authorities to determine the whereabouts of our compatriots.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed its commitment to continue working, through the most viable and effective channels, to deliver additional humanitarian aid to Venezuela, as well as strengthen its ongoing efforts to protect and assist Peruvian nationals in said country.
