Five regions, excluding Lima, account for 45.8% of Peru's GDP

Five regions —other than Lima— account for 45.8% of Peru's GDP, Lima Chamber of Commerce's (CCL) Institute of Economics and Business Development (IEDEP) reported Friday.

Arequipa and Cusco regions lead the group, making up 12.7% and 8.9% of GDP, respectively, followed by La Libertad (8.6%), Ancash (7.9%), and Piura (7.7%). 

Likewise, Arequipa takes the first place in terms of mining GDP at a national level, while Cusco comes second. 

Sectoral GDP 

Regarding farming GDP, La Libertad and Ica regions contribute the most, 13.2% and 9.6%, respectively. 

On the other hand, Piura (26.1%) and Ancash (14%) together account for 40% of the fishery GDP. 

Furthermore, Arequipa (18.2%), Cusco (16.3%), and Ancash (14.8%) stand out when it comes to mining GDP. 

Lima region (61.2%) leads the manufacturing GDP. 

Regions of note concerning trade GDP are Arequipa (11.6%), Piura (10.8%), La Libertad (9.3%), and Lambayeque (8.7%). They are also the leaders in the telecommunications and other services sectors.
