OECD: Peru makes progress in competitiveness and SME promotion

15:36 | Cairo (Egypt), Nov. 21.

Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Edgar Vasquez shared —with senior representatives of OECD member countries— Peru's main achievements concerning policies to improve competitiveness and promote the participation of companies —mainly of SMEs— in global trade.

The minister highlighted the participating countries' interest in Peru as a result of its economic stability and future prospect through the implementation of the National Competitiveness and Productivity Plan as well as the National Infrastructure Plan for Competitiveness.

In this sense, he added, the Peruvian Government has been boosting the Mipyme al Mundo (micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises to the World) strategy.

"The participation of Peru at this event is important. We have shown a country with a development approach, based on an improved competitiveness and participation in international markets through global value chains, thus maintaining active participation within the framework of OECD and strengthening cooperation with the OECD Development Centre," he pointed out.

The event took place in the city of Cairo in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
