During a historic session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly on Wednesday, Peru cast its vote in favor of the resolution which demands that the Russian Federation immediately cease the use of force against Ukraine and withdraw its military forces.

"I have just cast Peru's vote in favor of the resolution (titled) 'Aggression against Ukraine' at the UN. It was approved by 141 votes in favor. Non-intervention and non-use of force are stony columns of Peruvian diplomacy, as is the peaceful resolution of conflicts," the ambassador wrote on Twitter.

The resolution demanding a peaceful solution to the conflict was approved by 141 votes in favor, 5 against, and 35 abstentions.

"Our stance of firmly condemning the aggression against Ukraine and demanding an urgent course of peaceful resolution of the conflict is thus an expression of coherence with our own history," he stated during his speech at the Emergency Special Session of the UN General Assembly on Ukraine.
