During the meetings prior to the
taking place at the UN headquarters, Peruvian Environment Minister Lucia Ruiz affirmed that the South American country is providing concrete initiatives, which have been implemented as a matter of gender, health, and fair transition that seek the economic and sustainable development.
Among them, the measures related to the quality of fuel, electromobility, and the recent proposal sent to the Congress on the "scrap bond" —which seeks the renewal of the automotive fleet— were addressed.
"We have presented to the Secretary General of the United Nations all these opportunities for change that we have made as a country, and how things are done better," she said.
Ruiz —who attends the
Climate Action Summit 2019 which kicked off today— participated in the morning meeting on the Rainforest Alliance, where Germany, Norway, and France have expressed concern about the deforestation processes taking place in the Amazon.
