The virtual platform for the sale of entrance tickets to the llaqta (citadel) of Machu Picchu, as well as to other archaeological sites and museums managed by the Ministry of Culture, will be unique, transparent, auditable, and secure, Culture sector's head Leslie Urteaga affirmed.

The Culture minister on Thursday evening met with representatives of tourism guilds and civil society from Machu Picchu district, Urubamba province (Cusco region), with the purpose of discussing plans for the protection and preservation of this world wonder's llaqta.

During this meeting, the minister presented the single virtual platform and explained its benefits.

Likewise, the gathering served to listen to the concerns of participants. It was reported that there will be more meetings of this type to socialize the tool.

"It will be a unique, transparent, auditable, and secure platform, which we already use at the Gran Teatro Nacional (Grand National Theater), yielding great results. This will allow us to show that Peru is back (on track) and that visitors (are invited to) return for the pleasant experience," she emphasized.

Minister Urteaga affirmed that the challenge will be to turn Machu Picchu district into a tourist destination, promoting a cultural offer so that visitors have a good stay in this area.

"Let us deliver a message of dialogue and peace. We have the doors open for dialogue," she underlined.

Trial period

A few days ago, Minister Urteaga announced that entrance tickets to Machu Picchu would begin to be sold at the end of October through the digital platform http://tuboleto.cultura.pe/, which is currently being implemented.

The digital platform is in the trial period. The first site to be incorporated was the Kuelap Archaeological Monument located in Amazonas region. The Pachacamac and Italian Art Museums have been added to this modality.

The Hotels, Restaurants, and Related Establishments Association (Ahora Peru) expressed its support for the decision to sell all entrance tickets to the Inca citadel on the single digital platform, thus avoiding long lines and complaints from tourists interested in getting to know our country.
