During the Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting (FCBDM) of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), the list of priorities to be discussed at this year's forum was presented, in addition to a working agenda for the next gatherings of this sector —within the framework of APEC Peru 2024.

Representatives of the 21 APEC member economies conducted a comprehensive review of growth outlooks and then shared that information with their peers.

The same treatment was given to other topics, such as trends in international prices, financial conditions, and fiscal sustainability of the economies, which were also analyzed by the deputy finance ministers.

They will also discuss the work agenda that Peru has proposed for 2024 in the search for a more sustainable, digital, and resilient region.

Senior Finance Officials' Meeting (SFOM)

At the Senior Finance Officials' Meeting —to be held in the city of Urubamba (Cusco region) from May 23 to 27— efforts will be made to prepare the deliverables that finance ministers will adopt between October 1 and 4 at the Finance Ministerial Meeting (FMM) in Lima.

APEC is a valuable space that allows member economies to interact on equal terms, but above all, the bloc promotes regional economic integration and competitiveness among its members, as it serves as a catalyst for initiatives and an incubator of good practices for the improvement of public policies through cooperation projects.

It should be noted that for the global economy and for the region, the 21 APEC economies together accounted for 62% of the world GDP, 48% of global trade, and 38% of the planet's population in 2022.

Meeting in Arequipa

Since February 21, the city of Arequipa has been receiving representatives of the Ministries of Finance from the 21 economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, who participate at the Finance and Central Bank Deputies' Meeting (FCBDM) and associated workshops that take place in said city until today, February 24.

Thus, the city of Arequipa is the venue for the meeting of Ministries of Finance from the 21 APEC member economies.

Those gatherings will come to an end between November 10 and 16 this year with the APEC Economic Leaders Week (AELW) in Lima.

In addition, it is the first meeting of the APEC Finance Ministers' Process (FMP), which will be coordinated by the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Peru throughout this year.

Peru has been part of APEC since 1998 and will chair the forum for the fourth time this year, which represents a relevant milestone for Peruvian foreign policy as it has allowed our economy to consolidate its international projection in the Asia-Pacific region, the most innovative, dynamic, and fastest growing in the world.
