Andean Community exports up 14.5% in Jan-Feb 2018

Exports from Andean Community (CAN) members to the rest of the world totaled US$18.525 billion between January and February 2018, a 14.5% rise from the same period last year.

According to CAN General Secretariat's Statistics Unit, Peru ranked as the top exporting country of this regional bloc, with shipments worth US$7.468 billion.

It was followed by Colombia (US$6.316 billion), Ecuador (US$3.389 billion), and Bolivia (US$1.352 billion).

It must be noted CAN's most demanded products included crude petroleum oil, copper ore, gold, bituminous coal, fresh Cavendish Valery bananas, and zinc minerals, among others.

Based on information provided by the statistical institutes of Bolivia and Colombia, Ecuador's Central Bank, and Peru's Customs Office, exports among CAN members also experienced growth in the analyzed period.

In this regard, intra-community exports amounted to US$1.288 billion in the first two months of 2018, up by 15.9% over the same period last year.
