stated that Peru has enormous potential to increase trade with the country and attract more investment.
In remarks to Canal N, Peru's new ambassador agreed with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio that bilateral relations are experiencing a golden era.
"We must significantly expand economic ties. Peru has enormous potential to increase trade with the United States. Trade is not dynamic enough, but it could grow further. We need to attract more capital," Vargas Llosa said.
Regarding his upcoming work at the embassy, he also emphasized the need to expand Peru's cultural ties with the United States.
"I believe we need to reaffirm something that is already in the air: Peru's strategic positioning in the Western Hemisphere today, in terms of its relations with the United States and our neighbors," he stated.
Alvaro Vargas Llosa, son of 2010 Nobel Prize in Literature laureate Mario Vargas Llosa, was officially appointed Peru's Ambassador to the United States today through a supreme resolution published in the Legal Regulations section of Official Gazette El Peruano on Wednesday.
